Project brief

With an open brief, we instead ventured to the era of the building and history to unwrap within.

We re-instated and protected some of the existing features and added in a gentle decoration of layered furniture and soft furnishings.

We followed a simple materiality that felt tactile, delicate and homely; which began muted and deep on the ground floor and became more light-touched and soft towards the eaves of the second floor.

Modern office space with multiple workstations, black chairs, computers, notebooks, and potted plants near a large window with a patterned valance.
A cozy sitting room with green paneled walls, artwork of geese and ducks, a mirror, and a mix of chairs and sofas, with a coffee table decorated with a succulent plant.

Take a quick look at the project mid-renovation, thanks to our clients…

The best projects are those where clients truly trust your vision, allowing you the freedom to bring it to life. Especially with a building of this heritage and importance, it was imperative that the interior design would ultimately lead the entire personality of the once redundant, dark and gloomy building. What Studio Gorse managed to accomplish is truly special; unlocking a dreamy, soft interior that welcomes you effortlessly and leaves a real impression for future tenants.

In this instance, Studio Gorse have been able to ensure the office spaces and communal areas were so truly captivating and inviting, that local businesses would feel honoured to be a part of such an exclusive, high-end office offering to Mid-Cornwall. We hear endless compliments about the space, and are proud to have added such a beautiful space to our Director’s home town.
