Grade II listed city townhouse on one of Truro’s finest streets

Studio Gorse, in collaboration with Cornwall Living Property and SMT Associates, led the sensitive redesign of a prominent Grade II listed, Georgian townhouse (c1810) on Truro’s historic Lemon Street, preparing it for re-entry to the market.

While the property retained the charm and character of a historically significant home, it had unfortunately been converted into a series of dark, uninspiring office spaces. With vibrant blue carpets, bold purple walls, and harsh fluorescent lighting, the interior no longer reflected the building’s architectural integrity. Our approach proposed a calm, refined material palette—featuring limestone tiles, sisal carpet, and heritage paint tones—to thoughtfully reimagine the space.

The result is a home that once again stands proudly among the distinguished granite-fronted terrace. With an improved internal layout—including a relocated kitchen, the addition of a downstairs WC, and a cosy new dining area—the property has been carefully transformed into a warm, inviting family home.
